Long island

All i hear about is all of these hurricanes, eathquakes, tsunamis, etc everywhere else except Long Island. People tend to forget that Long island is exactly what its name says. A long island srounded by water on every side. If we ever had any of these natural disasters strike near us wwe really would be screwed. I dont know how many poeple live on Long Island but think about how many of us would have to evacuate. Or even worse what if we didnt have a warning and we all just got struck by suprise. I feel like we take it for granted that nothing will ever happen to us and were invisible. Obviously not, look how many people got messed up from a minor storm that lifted some trees out of the ground? You would think that we were in New Orlenas during Katrina the way people reacted to a rather minor storm that places like kansas, florida, and missouri get hit with several times a year. I hope that the last storm we had isint a sign of things to come, because people will be going crazy if anything worse happens from a natural disaster.

Legal Marijuana

I was watching the news the other day and i see some scientist playing with pot. My first thought was "what the hell is he doing with all that weed". Then i found out that it was called medical marijuana and its now used legally in hospitals for people who have certain painful diseases. A man was talking about how much effort it took him to lift his arm and shoulders but once he started smoking this special stuff, he became much more loose and relaxed. There is also talk that pot may become legal in New York and even though im a kid i still think this might be the stupidest move the government ever made. Once kids start smoking pot they need something stronger and then they turn to schrooms, coke, and ecstasty, another big one especially in my area is Heroin. So why the hell would the government need to legalize the gateway drug to all those life ruining drugs? I truly hope this is just a rumor and pot stays illegal.

Concussion

Everyone fears them, everyone hates them and nobody wants one. But ofcourse at the start of spring break i got one. It all starts with drinking. Once people drink alcohol they become a completely different person and this time it was one of my best friends running his mouth. So he starts talking to an older asshole that nobody likes and then things escalted. My friend dropped a glass and was asked to pay for it and he rightfully declined. It then became a shouting match and i came in to the rescue. It went outside of the bar and then everyone started pushing and shoving and i ended up with a gash on the back of my head compliments to a brick wall. We later found out it wss a concussion. So it really was an excellent start to my first college spring break. Woooo Hoooooooooooooo. But i can honestly say i would do it again. Gotta always protect your friends and family.

Tigers Back

Tiger Woods said today that he will be returning from his long absense from golf in times for the Masters in Augusta. This comes to no suprise of me because why wouldnt the best golfer of all time want to take partin the biggest golf outing of the season? It a no braineron many levels forhim to return to thisevent because not only willit help him financially, but it will also help him publicly. The sooner he gets back to his winning ways the sooner people will forget about the stupid ass mistakes he made. I personally hate Tiger Woods even before all of these events took place. He just always seemed like he was too good for everyone but the truth is that he is a regular person who is just good at golf and apparently cheating on his wife and causing family problems. If there was a sport for cheating on wives then he would truly be an MVP. But until then hell be a regular person who made abnormally big irregular mistakes.

Islanders internship

I just had an interview to become an intern with the islanders and i truly hope i get the job because if i do i know that it can be a positive step in the direction i want to be in for my future. It starts in the summer time and is monday to friday from 9-5. Thats quite a heavy schedule for a non paying job, but its a risk im willing to take becausei truly believe that the opportunites and recognition i will recieve from enduring the process will be priceless for the long term goals of my life. I will never be sick of sports or anything that has to do with the Islanders. It has been a lifelong passion for me and my family and i feel that if i hadto work in any type of place why not let it be one of the most important parts of my life and get paid while doing so?

911 conspiracy

I never really belived in conspiracys, but ive been watching some videos lately of the theory that the united states government planned the attacks on the world trade center and pentagon to have a reason to fight a war on terror without the united states citizens goings absolutely insane. I dont want to believe that this is true but some of theevidence is pretty convincing. First is how perfectly the towers fell down almost as if they were on timed explosives. Second is that tower 7 which is 47 story building across the street actually crumbled to the ground also and was NEVER HIT with anything at all. That is the one that really scares me the most because no terrorist would have access to so manyexplosives and would notbe able to plant them inside abuilding so easily. So why did tower 7 really fall?

Marriot

Just got home from Marriot next to the nassau coliseum and it was a really good night. Me and my girlfriend stayed there after the Jay Z concert and had some good food and dranks. It was a good experience to just not worry about parents or going home at a certain time or where your sleeping. A nice stress free weekend never hurts anyone. They renovated the hotel again and the rooms were all brand new as well. It was pretty impressive im not gonna lie. I used to stay there years ago when my house was getting redone and its much more colorful and modern now. Im between classes i actually head over there sometime to get lunch and try and bump into the visiting hockey teams that play the islanders that night . The teams usually have breakfast at prime seasons restaurant at around 10am and then head over to the coliseum and take their morning skate. The life of an NHL player is definitely something i would love, but then again who wouldnt wanna live in hotels and travel the united states and canada while getting paid for playing hockey? if you answered no your crazy wrong.

L.T

The Jets are in competition with the Vikings in trying to sign the best running back of all time, Ladanian Tomlinson. His nickname L.T has been very popular for the last 9 years in which he has won three MVPs and broke the record for touchdowns in one season. Though he had a carer worst season last year he is only thirty and even though injuries have hindered him as of late, he is still a notch above most running backs in the league an dbrings a dynamic pass catching syle to his game which makes him a deadly weapon in the red zone for a TD at anytime. I would be ecstatic if the Jets could pull if off and bring him to the Meadowlands. Hes a player that i hated for years because he killed us when he played us but my hate for him will surely switch to love if he can put on the Green and White. Him along with Shonn Greene, Mark Sanchez, Braylon Edwards, Jericho Cothery, Dustin Keller, and Leon Washington would only make an already very potent offense even more deadly for a team that was one win away from a Super Bowl visit.

HOVA

I went to the Jay z convert the other night and it was amazing. He has this special ability to captivate so many people at one time and lead them or direct them in any way he wants to. There is a whole big conspiracy on him being a free mason which is a member of a higher up acolt in which people leave eachothers fortunes for eachother in hoping they have certain god given abilites. Rockefellar is another example of a freemason in which he had a god given ability to monopolize the world with his business. The modern day freemason is absolutely Jay z and i saw first hand what he can do to thousands of people. He has the symbolic diamond hand sign which means hova and is supposed to the the eye that sees all on money inside the pyramid. The fact that there were popes and priests at the concert was another thing in itself. Maybe this freemason stuff is really true.

The Late Night

I hate the feeling of forgetting to do something or wanting to be able to do something but you cant. Everyone should be able to do what they want to all the time anytime. I just came home its 1151 and i have to do this blog before times up for the day. Things were pretty average today. I made a pretty good cd went, went out to eat, and hoped the jets signed someone like Darren Sharper and the news of Leon Washington would get better. I miss Albany lifestyle a little but just for the weekend. I really dont think i would be able to go away to school theres just too much responsibility and no privacy. I do wish Nassau was a little more unique though im sick of the same type of person, i want to meet so new interesting people who arent worried about what they look like or sound like and just can talk without any pressure. This pretty much sums up my day and it actually felt good to write this.

The Banner

Tonight the a banner will be raised to the rafters of bethpage ice rink and i never would have thought it would be. The banner will read 2009 Champion syosset braves and i really cannot wait to see it. We were a hideious team for years but last season we pulled out some of the biggest wins is Nassau couny history at the exact right times. Cold spring harbor, Sewanaka, and last but not least Massapequa. We have never beaten those teams in the playoffs and lost to them all during the season but once the playoffs came last year there was a different feel to our team that i have never felt before in my 6 years in that locker room. It was the feeling of being sick of coming up short and not only was it a feeling, it was a reality. So tonight i will be feeling the wind of the banner raising up to rafters knowing that I was a big part of it and i will always have that feeling in my heart, and never be sick of that one.

Food Poisoning

How does it happen?, where does it come from?, how does it start?, where is it found most commonly?, what are the side effects?.... We all know the asnwer to the last one. My friend Simar got food poisoning the other day and was tested for Ecoli, which is a more serious case of food poisoning that can sometimes lead to death. Thankfully he did not have Ecoli and just had common food poisoning. I have never gotten it so i cant really speak from experience but it really sucks. God its just non stop puking or shitting, until it decides it truly 100% out of your body. We think he got it from a chicken and rice stand that we always go to in Manhattan but my other firnds ate the same exact thing and did not have anything happen to them not even a stomach ache. I just hope i never have to deal with what he went through because its really shitty....literally.

The smell of the ice

I have been playing hockey since i am about four or five years old now. It is my true love and its just always something that i want to do at anytime i love picking up a stick and a ball and just playing around trying new things and new moves. Its more than just playing hockey its that feeling that you get when you see your dad smile when he knows you just scored a nice goal, made a nice pass, or made a nice move, or in our case laid him on his back because we play against eachother every sunday for years now and hit eachother as little competetive thing thats now become a family wide known tradidtion. That feeling when you take the first step on the ice and that smell just fills your whole body and no matter whats going on in your life everything just slips away for the time being. Sports are just something that everyone should be involved in and should experience that exhillarating feeling that carries me away.

Car things

I was in auto zone the other day looking for som enew things to kind of spruce up my car, and make it look a little cooler. Its a 2009 altima and i love the way it drives and feels but its just a little too "momish" for me so i did a few thins to make it a little younger looking. I tinted all the windows, i put in these blue neon lights under the dashboard where your feet go. But even with those two things im still looking for another little spice thats missing from the recipe. I was thinking maybe a little spoiler, or maybe some new rims or hubcaps. It is a lease and i know that its pretty stupid im even putting anything into this car because i dont own it but i just like that fresh, shiny, sleek look in a car in the summer time when the sun hits it at that perfect spot.

Wiffle Ball

I miss the days of wiffle ball and all of my friends and family playing in the court. I feel like once people get a certain age they consider themselves "too old" to do certain things. Why? There should be no age limit on anything anyone wants to do. When im older i still want to feel young and alive i will never be the type driving a mini van or wearing old people clothes just because you have to. I will always do what keeps me feeling young, fresh, alive and ready for a new exciting day, every single day. Hopefully my kids dont get embarrassed whenever i end up having kids.

Dwi

How stupid can everyone be?. Long island gives our more dwis than anywhere in the united states so why do people still keep drinking and driving? I have 4 friends who have gotten them now and 2 have been in major accidents because of the drinking and driving phase. What really bothers me the most is that innocent parents and families and childern are in risk when these assholes are too bad to drive. I could care less if i drunk driver killed themesleves but its completely disgusting to lose someone who is obeying the law at the mercy of an idiotic drunk driver. There should be checkpoints at every couple exits and random tests and things along those lines. People will only learn when they are convicted hopefully they just dont die before that happens.

Trade Dealine

Today is the trade deadline in the NHL. After 3 oclock nobody can be traded or switch teams until about June. The average number of trades on deadline day in the past six years is 20. I hope the Islanders make some very significant moves. We have been in what they call a rebuild for years now and never bring back players we are always giving them away for stupid draft picks, or prospects who never work out. I want a player that everyone knows, and that can put the puck in the net or stop it from coming in. You have to spend money to make money in anything you do and that includes the Islanders. They never have a quality product on the ice, because they are never willing to spend money. All the cheapness leads to a lack of fans in the arena which leads to a lack of money or a loss of money in their case. So with that being said make a few good moves already.

Cancun

Me and some friends are going to cancun this june. I cant wait for this trip, i have never been to Mexico and cant wait to see what swine flu really looks like up close. Just kidding , but the hotel looks awesome and the water look crystal clear so its going to be awesome. 100 degrees everyday, bar inside the pool? How much better can that get. Everyone telling us not to leave the resort and i agree with them. Mexico is one of those places where Americans are hated in the small towns but loved in the resorts because of the money that we make them. Senor frogs is another place alot of people are talking about saying how fun it is and how you have to go even if its off the resort. We shall see but until then i really can not wait to go.

Kardashians

Oh my god they are all so sexy. My mom was watching the show tonight and i started watching too. They arent as stupid as everyone makes them seem too, they have their own show, own store, and one of them is actually married to Lamar Odom from the Los Angeles Lakers. The step father is Bruce Jenner too he was an olympic runner. Its one of the better reality shows that ive seen, at least there all doing something with their lives like getting married, having kids, and working. Jersey shore and real world and all those stupid ass shows make no sense. They consist of a bunch of drunk idiots who fight at bars, you can walk into any place that serves alcohol and after a few too many there will be fights anywhere sometimes even family parties haha.

IKEA

Ikea is one of those places that you are attracted to walk into but then you dont even know why you walked in once your in the middle of the store. In the middle of the store is about the tim eyou say "how the hell do you get out of this place and why did i even walk into here?". Well anyways me and my girlfriend were shopping for a desk and chair for her new room this weekend and we ended up getting both items at IKEA. It has to be one of the biggest stores around with the most selection and the prices are very, very good on everything, but where is all the help? You have to take a ticket yourself and then go find it in this big ass factory part of the store. I think the main reason why people are so attracted to walking into IKEA is becasue of that cinnamon smell. As soon as i walk into broadway mall it tingles my nostrils and i enter the wacky sweish world of IKEA.

USAAAAAAAAAAAAA

The gold medal game is tommorow. Usa versus Canada? yes i said that right. Can anyone believe that USA is here, really. Before the olympics began i didnt even think we would be competing for a bronze medal let alone a gold. The last time that we won gold in mens ice hockey was in 1980 during one of the biggest if not the biggest upsets in modern day sports. It was even nicknamed the "Miracle on Ice". So now here we are exactly thirty years later and we can do it again. It may not be as big a deal as it was in 1980 but hey, why not act like it is? USA hockey is back on the map so look out.

The Green Mile

I was flicking through the channels and saw the Green Mile on TV. I remember everyone and their mother talking about that show years ago and i have never seen it so i watched it. I dont really like movies that are so far fetched that they are unbelieveable, and what can be more far fetched than a big black man who heals people in prison? I really dont understand how this movie did good so good and won so many awards. The actors in it are pretty good but the story line is so stupid. As soon as it ended i knew that this was going to be a blog conversation. Kinda makes me feel like im a movie critic, maybe these blogs wont be so bad if i look at it that way.

Olympics< American Idol? Really?

I love the olympics and so should everyone. Its your country how can you not watch?. Its truly pathetic that American Idol had higher ratings last night than the olympics. A bunch of no name talents that go sing in front of a bunch of no name judges. Before the show began Can you honestly tell me you knew who Simon and Randy were. Im not taking anything away from the singers some of them really do have talent but i just think the olympics is one of the most important activities in the world maybe thats the reason why its called the WORLD OLYMPICS. Lets hope USA can take home the gold in the mens ice hockey too, its a big thing that we beat Canada at their own sport so now lets so if we can do it when it counts more than ever.

Killer Whales for a reason

Yesterday at Sea World in Orlando, one of the killer whales did just that to a trainer that has been working there for years. I dont understand how these people just get in the water with animals of that size and power. I know the argument is that when you breed them and raise them at such a young age its rare for anything to happen, but anything can and did happen as well. This reminds me of the time that the tiger that does the show with the two guys from Vegas attacked his trainer as well. These things obviously happen so people should be much more cautios and careful.

Summary of Fake and Real articles

Fake Article= Anytime you open up an article with the title of "Extinct species found in Chuck Norris' beard" you know its going to be an interesting one, and probably a fake one. In Cape Town, South Africa there was a belief that a South African spotted wild frog has gone extince and the extinct species was spotted in Chuck Norris; beard. This article was obviously created as a humorous piece that grabs the attention of people at places such as super markets, airports, and newstands.

True Article= This past week Tony Kornheiser was suspended by ESPN for "horrifying comments about Hannah Storm. Tony is an anylyst on ESPN and has one of the most viewed shows called Pardon the interuption, also called PTI. He is known for his big mouth but usually has stayed out of the limelight for negative attention. The remarks that frustrated ESPN were "a horrifying, horrifying outfit today. Shes got on a red go go boots and a Catholic school plaid skirt..way too short for somebody in her 40s maybe early 50s by now. In my opinion i dont think it was that bad but the media always makes things worse than they really are. Bet he watches what he says about womens outfits next time hes back on the show.

Back In the Blogging Game

Its been a while im not gonna lie but i can promise whoever reads this that i will NOT miss one more blog for the rest of the semester and i qill quiet all the haters. So this past weekend i was up in Albany visiting some of my best friends. I have never been to a college with dorms it was quite the experience. I love the way everyone is friends so easily and parties are always going on. Most of the parties consisted of people just blogging and going crazy. Its too cold for me to live there ever but an occasional weekend here and there is not bad at all. It has to be at lwast double the size of Nassau so i cant imagine what its like walking to class in the freezing weather there. Thats one things that truly sucks about going there. If I do go on to another school next year or whenever it will probably be somewhere more local like Post of maybe even Hofstra but until then ill just be blogging my ass of here.

The Music

Today was actually very funny in class. The music was hilarious whether it was Biggie or Metallica it was an overall good class. Ive never been in a class that i was actually this interested in. I truly enjoy coming to this class besides the early time slot we got. Hopefully my grade is as fun and the class and it will be that much better. My favorite song was Californication by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and my least favorite song was Bad Day by Daniel Powers. That song is hideous. Its so depressing i dont understand how people listen to that when you are actually having a bad day.

Isles Files

The Islanders just lost their fifth straight game? What are they doing? Every year this happens, we all get so excited thinking they are a serious contender, then before we know it there not even playing anymore because they dont even make the playoffs. Its hard rooting for them every year but it will only be that much sweeter when they eventually do win the Cup. John Tavares hasent been the player i though we drafted but maybe hes just too young still. He could use some veteran help around him as well. Crosby never was alone he always had a wing man on every line and thats why he had 100 points in his rookie year. Put some talent on this team already. Spend money and people will come.

Grammys

I just watched some portions of the grammys and just to my self "what are these freaks wearing"?. Lady gaga would look so much better if she dressed like a human and not an alien robot. I dont understand how these people make so much money by just looking as weird as they can. Anyways Meghan Fox looked amazing as usual. Finally getting back into the swing of things such as waking up at 6 monday thru thursday. Its kind of hard when your off for almost two months and in those two months you wake up at 12 every day. Hopefully i dont need to take any summer classes. The weather is too cold here.

Past English Experiences

Believe it or not, English is probably my favorite subject since I have been in Elementary School. I have always enjoyed writing on my own, i truly hate writing all of those task essays in which a topic of discussion is picked for you to wrtie about, but they have to grade you on something.

From what i have seen so far, i think i will like this class because it seems to fit my syle of writing more than my twelfth grade class, and my 101 class last semester here at wonderful nassau community college. I actually recieved a higher grade than i anticipated last semester. I thought i would be in the C- area but ended up getting a B+, so that was a nice suprise. I tend to write about sports the most because that is where my passion lies. I am an avid sports fan and have been playing hockey since i was three years old. Writing should show emotion, and in my case there is nothing that brings out more emotion in me than sports.

One of my dream jobs is to be a beat writer for the New York Islanders, so english might play a pretty big part in my life one day, thats ofcourse if i ever make it that far. I know im not the srtongest writer grammatically, but i think i can be good enough for a Newsday type paper as a sports writer some day as long as i brush up on the actual english content and grammer of my writing.

Future Looks Good

Yesterday was one of the toughest days ive ever had as a sports fan. My Jets lost in the AFC championship game to the Colts. When the game ended i couldnt even eat. Me and my dad are actually heading to Miami to go to the Super Bowl this year so that makes it even more painful knowing that we were one win away from seeing Gang Green in South Beach. After the pain of the loss started to little itself, i sat back and thought to myself "if someone would have told me before the season started that we would be one win away from the super bowl with a rookie quaterback, and a rookie coach i would be pretty happy" So after thinking that i can only look forward to what the future holds. Hopefully next season with a new stadium we get that one more win, with new heights.
